I feel blessed to have the opportunity to meet this young lady this morning. This is my first day of taking pictures of ladies that I hope to meet randomly. She was purchasing some items at a store and I just happen to be passing by and I said Who!! I 'pick' up some courage and confronted her. She look a bit surprised at what I was doing. Hopefully after she would appreciate her gift.

Guess what? There are two ladies, that I know, who always have their hair in perfect condition. So I had planned to take their pictures today. It turned out that they both had some hair malfunction and had their hair pulled back.
One person who did not let me down this morning was my co-worker. She is a woman that absolutely loves her 'locks'. She is always well groomed and it is very rare she pulls it back into a pony tail or something. About a month ago, she had her hair styled and I am sure it pained her! (just kidding). And YES it is all natural.
She is from Jamaica.
I would not be posting pictures with any weaves or braids.

Of course as we were taking pictures this morning, I took one of myself (below) as well. I like to put a burgundy rinse in my hair every time I relax my hair. I try to avoid having permanent color applied to my hair. It dries out the hair.

Curling Iron - No, No!!

This is my beautiful daughter Kyla. She has been following my instructions on how to get her long and she was doing a good job. One mistake she kept doing, was using her curling iron every morning. She just would not listen to me when I told her that the practice was not healthy for her hair growth.

She eventually lost patience and tried something new, she cut her hair very short and was very sorry she did it afterward. To Late!!

I Proved That It Can Be Done!

When I first migrated to the BVI, I was always under the impression that a black woman could not have very long hair. The only that it can be achieved is by having weave installed.

As I became familiar with the island and the people, I saw alot of black woman with long hair that was natural. I always admired them and decided that I wanted to grow my hair. I wanted to prove a point.

I purchased a book online that give instructions on how to do this. Well as you could see the results in the images above. I never cut my hair (or trimmed the ends) during that period.

Sometimes I go to the hairdresser and I see woman with beautiful long hair and they are having their hair braided or having their hair weaved.

In the image below, my daughter took this picture of this hairdo that I had done for my wedding day. I did not keep it for long. After about two days I washed and set my hair. I did not want to have the gel in my hair for too long.

I am from Trinidad and Tobago.
