What I Got For My Birthday 2021

Thank you for checking out my blog post in which I share with you what I got for my birthday 2021.  I celebrated my birthday Thursday February 25.

I had a desire to get a new handbag for Christmas 2020 but that didn't work out but I got the opportunity to do so for my birthday.  I didn't know what color handbag I wanted and how much I wanted to spend.  So when I went into the store I saw this beautiful navy blue handbag and fell in love with it without even seeing if it had all the characteristics that I like.

I purchased a navy blue handbag in Trinidad a few years ago but did not really like it.  I like handbags that stay upright even when its empty.  This handbag would just fold over when it was empty.

I purchased a navy blue Alyssa 3 piece hand bag that is spacious on the inside and lined with leopard design fabric.  There is no division but has two pockets on one side of the bag and one on the other side of the bag. This pocket has a zipper.  The bag is secured with a zipper which is a great feature me when traveling.

On the outside on one side of the bag is a zippered compartment which is great to place my cell phone and keys.  On the other side of the bag there is a flap with a fake gold locket.  There isn't any compartment here the flap is just a design.  I'm thinking after a while the fake gold locket will get discolored.  The bag handles are flexible which I like.

As I mentioned before this is a 3 piece hand bag so the other pieces that came with the hand bag are a wallet and pouch.  The wallet is spacious and I love the feel of the outside of the wallet.

The other item that I got for my birthday is a beautiful purple lace Bali bra.  I've been wanting to get one like this for a few months now.  The bra pads are lined with lace which are loosely attached to the pads.

I was greatly disappointed when I wore this bra for the first time.  It doesn't support my breasts firmly and there is 'spillage' under my arm.

This next item that I got is a comfortable slippers that I can easily walk around town in.

The day before my birthday my husband sponsored my visit to the hair salon to have my hair colored and the next day we had lunch at loose Mongoose. The photo below is of a Reggae Callaloo Soup that I ordered for my appetizer.  I was so excited when I made my order thinking I was getting a callaloo soup but it was a pumpkin soup and the green thing is Jamaican callaloo.

My son gave 12 sponge cup cakes each coated with vanilla icing and topped with raspberries and blue berries.  Super delicious

Have You Heard About The Gorilla Glue Girl? Tessica Brown

Have you heard about the Gorilla Glue girl?  Well this is such a strange story. If you have not heard about it, I will share the story with you now.

This young lady, her name is Tessica Brown, ran out of her regular hair spray and decided to use Gorilla Glue Spray (a powerful adhesive generally used for stones and bricks).  Her hair was nice and tidy - she achieved the results she was looking for. However, her hair stayed nice and tidy for more than a week.  It was then she realized that something was wrong.

She made a few attempts, at home, to remove the product from her hair with the application of olive oil, cooking oil etc but nothing worked.  So she decided to upload a video on Instagram sharing her experience and asking for suggestions to get this product out of her hair.  Well her video went viral very quickly and everyone was talking and vlogging about her.

Someone suggested that she applied some acetone to the hair but she reported that her head burned too much - it was painful and unbearable.  She was not able to continue with that tip.  She eventually went into the hospital but they were not able to do anything for her.

With all the publicity she received, she was eventually contacted by a Los Angeles plastic surgeon (Dr. Michael Obeng) who said he could remove the chemical from her hair.  The funds she was able to raise from her GoFundMe account was able to help pay for this treatment.  She flew to the doctor's office and had the surgery done which was very successful.  He made a mixture of olive oil, aloe vera, acetone and other things to get the Gorilla Glue out of her hair.  She is very relieved and happy now.

People are saying that she did this prank to achieve fame.  Its a dangerous prank to achieve this status though.  I don't think that she did.  What do you think?

I heard that she is talking about suing the Gorilla Glue company, which I think is absurd.  There are warnings on the Gorilla Glue Spray container that the product is not to be used on your skin and any part of your body.  What makes her think she would win a case like this.

Anyway I hope she is enjoying her new instant fame and wish her all the best.

Is This Signs Of Dementia?

I had a recent event that shook me up a bit so I thought I would share my experience with you in this blog post.

I was in the grocery store and stopped at the section where the green bananas are located. I placed my shopping basket on the ground and proceeded to pack a plastic bag with some green bananas.

Then I walked over to the section with the potatoes, which was not far away. I packed another plastic bag with some potatoes.

When I was done, I looked around for my shopping basket and could not find it. I felt disoriented and just could not remember where I put my shopping basket. I even asked myself if I had a shopping cart. I proceeded to walk over to the section with the green bananas and looked down on the ground and there was my shopping basket. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all.

There was another time when I driving to a specific destination and I could not remember where I was going. This happened to me before but I was able to recollect myself within seconds but this time it took longer than usual and I had to drive my vehicle to the side of the road and stop the vehicle before I was able to remember where I was going.

My mother died on January 17, 2020 and had a bit of dementia. She would move things and forgot where she put them, then she would accuse family members for stealing her things. I am very mindful of her experiences.

I haven't gotten my annual medical check up as yet, when I do I will discuss this matter with my doctor and see what is recommended.

Migraines And Severe Headaches Maybe A Long Term Side Effect Of Hair Relaxers

My niece-in-law has always been complaining about her frequent severe migraines.  Recently we had a conversation and she told me that since we have been under 24 hours curfew due to COVID 19, in 2020, in the British Virgin Islands, she has not experienced any headaches.

Normally she would have already relaxed her hair.  But since we were not entitled to our regular luxuries of going to the hair dresser and to the spa, she was forced to allow her relaxed hair to grow out.  This ended up to be a blessing in disguise or my niece-in-law.

I am so happy for her that she has gotten this relief from this pain and suffering.  She has gone to the doctor on numerous occasions.  She even went to have a MRI done.
As the relaxer in her hair began to grow out, it was challenging for my niece-in-law to style her hair each day.  She now had to deal with two textures of hair, her natural hair and the relaxed ends.  If not treated with special care, the relaxed hair end would break.

Now her hair is one hundred percent natural and she would mostly have braids installed into her hair or maybe a weave.

Tummy Time In Babies | My Story | What Is Tummy Time?

My second grandson was born on August 28 2018.  He is my daughter first child.  I travelled from Tortola British Virgin Islands to Trinidad and Tobago to be there for her for birth of her baby.

It was my duty to show my daughter how to handle her baby.  She was on top of it though.  Any little concerns she had she would do her research on Google and also liaise with her doctor on WhatsApp which I thought was so cool and helpful.

About a week after the birth of my grandson, Everyday after bathing and feeding him we would put him on his tummy to sleep.  This is the way my mother taught me.  So its understandable that I passed on this knowledge to my daughter. Then we learnt from my daughter's doctor that we should put baby on his back to sleep.

In doing so I noticed that when he was awake and lying on his back, he hardly made any effort to turn his head, he mostly moved his eyes.  This eventually began to be a concern for me so again we consulted his doctor and she said that maybe his neck muscles were still a bit weak and it might take a little longer for the neck muscles to get stronger.

Eventually I left Trinidad to return to Tortola, before doing so I reminded my daughter to monitor my grandson head movements.  We soon learned that the baby must be turned on their tummy for short periods as a form of exercise.  During these periods the neck muscles will develop.  This is called Tummy Time.

After about a month or so my daughter began to turn my grandson on his tummy for short periods.  This was done under strict supervision.  As time passed he was left on his tummy for longer periods.

Each time I spoke to my daughter I reminder her about the tummy time for my grandson.
